Privacy Policy

1. Summary

Plain English first. MarginCub stores your email, password (hashed), and the recipes and ingredients you save. We never sell data, never run ad trackers, and delete everything within 7 days of request. The detail follows.

2. What we collect

When you sign up, we store:

• Email address - for login, password reset, and service notifications
• Password - stored as a one-way hash; we cannot read it

When you use the product, we store:

• Ingredients and prices you enter, so they're available next visit
• Recipes and batches you save, including yields, weights, and notes
• Account preferences such as currency and unit system

3. What we don't do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your data
• We do not run third-party advertising trackers
• We do not share your recipes between accounts
• We do not fingerprint visitors
• We do not read or analyse the content of individual recipes for any commercial purpose

4. Cookies

One cookie: a session identifier that keeps you signed in. It is HTTP-only, expires when you log out, and carries no personal data beyond a random token. There are no advertising, tracking, or third-party cookies.

5. Analytics

We use self-hosted Trafnova - a privacy-friendly analytics tool running on our own server. It records aggregate traffic patterns (pages, referrers, country, browser) without setting cookies and without sending any data to third parties. IP addresses are anonymised at collection time.

6. Data deletion

Email [email protected] from the address on your account. Your account, recipes, ingredients, and any backups containing them are permanently deleted within 7 days. We will reply to confirm completion.

You can also request a full export of your data in JSON format at the same address.
